Marketing collateral for extreme sports team
Client / Agency: The Red Devils
The team needed their collateral to be aligned with the same look and feel, the previous items were visually disjointed and were not recognizable and the audience often thought the Red Devils (ARMY) were part of the Red Arrows (RAF) therefore confusing to the user. The various existing materials used red, white, and blue, which were the colours used by the Red Arrows.
Solution + Results:
From the press pack, to display collateral and reunion event materials, all were created with the distinct red and black colour scheme. A heavy, punchy, strong, stencil typeface was introduced to provide a raw, rugged appearance. Lots of imagery was also used throughout applications; website, print and merchandise. The emphasis of the mention of the ARMY in the copy clarified their heritage quickly. Using the black to complement the red achieved key differentiation for the team. When implemented the number of viewers that had associated with the Red Arrows was reduced.
